Strictly Come Dancing has confirmed that Angela Scanlon is the next name joining this year's line-up.

The 39-year-old was announced on BBC Radio 2, with Gaby Roslin standing in on The Zoe Ball Breakfast show.

Speaking of her new challenge, Angela said: "I'm terrified, I'm excited and I have so many questions. Will they make me tan? How itchy are sequins?! Do they do flesh coloured sports bras? Well – there's only one way to find out, right!?

"Now I'm panicking a bit… but also secretly thrilled about the prospect of all that glitter. Let's go!"

Irish presenter Angela is best known for BBC Two's interior design show Your Home Made Perfect, and also hosts chat show Ask Me Anything on RTÉ.

She started off as a stylist, working in fashion television before moving to UK TV as the host of Robot Wars.

Angela joins a growing line-up of stars who will be strutting their stuff later this year on the BBC dance floor.

Last week, Angela Rippon, Layton Williams and Amanda Abbington were announced on Friday's episode of The One Show (August 4).

On Saturday, Channel 4 news presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy was announced on Claudia Winkleman's BBC Radio 2 show.

Then on Sunday (August 6), comedian and radio presenter Eddie Kadi joined the line-up after he was announced on The Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show on BBC Radio1Xtra.

The line-up is already causing controversy though, with fans questioning how fair it is signing Layton, who is known for his stage performances, which often includes a lot of dancing.

Meanwhile, some viewers have sworn off watching the show due to Amanda's inclusion on the line-up after she was previously accused of transphobia and slammed a male cabaret performer.

One person noted that her new co-star Layton had the lead role as a teenage drag queen in Everybody's Talking About Jamie.
