After just one week on our screens Strictly Come Dancing fans are already convinced they’ve spotted a brewing “feud” between one of the couples on this year’s show.
Former Bros singer Matt Goss and his partner Nadia Bychkova took to the dance floor on Saturday night to take part in their debut performance – a quickstep to Sir Duke by The Chris Walden Big Band.
However their performance failed to win over the judges, and only scored them five points from each of the panelists – something it appeared, didn’t sit well with Matt who entered the competition with a clear desire to win.
Viewers at home weren’t convinced the pair would go all the way either, with many speculating that their partnership may not be quite so rosy as it had initially appeared.
These feelings were further heightened later in the show, when Matt was caught on camera trying to “pull” Nadiya into the shot, while Claudia Winkleman was interviewing fellow contestant Hamza Yassin.
Part way through the interview, Matt could be seen taking Nadiya by the arm and moving her into the shot to stand next to him, with many Strictly fans at home left baffled by the “controlling” behaviour.
“Matt Goss just pulled Nadiya into shot and tried to act casual about it,” wrote one fan.
Another added: “Matt Goss just pulled Nadiya into the camera frame. He’s so horrible.”
A third said: “Really didn’t like what I just saw. It made Matt look controlling and desperate.”
Not everyone was opposed to the couple however, with several fans also speaking out in support of the duo, as it was only week one of the competition.
Someone said: “I loved Matt and Nadiya, they were incredible.” While another branded them a “great couple” for their performance.
Also weighing in on Matt’s performance was body language expert Darren Stanton, who told The Sun, that Matt had come in with the intention of taking home the trophy and winning the entire competition.
“It’s clear he is a very determined and motivated person and as he’s used to being on stage and performing, we could see him go some way this series,” Darren told the publication.
He also added that Matt appeared to be “very genuine” as he praised his eye contact with Nadiya.
He then continued: “He appears to be quite a spiritual person and responds well to his feelings. We saw him looking down and to the right with his eyes often – a classic sign that suggests he goes by his gut instinct.”
Describing both Matt and his professional partner Nadiya as “tactile” individuals, Darren also noted that there seemed to be an “instant connection” between the pair, which may serve them well later in the competition.
