Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden confessed she faced emotional turmoil when deciding whether or not to join the BBC show.
The 33-year-old, who has been undergoing treatment for breast cancer, admitted that it was the hardest decision she has ever had to make in a recent interview.
Amy said giving up her chance to continue competing in international championships was similar to an athlete deciding on whether they should make an upcoming Olympic race their last.

She also said the huge decision would have also impacted her dance partner, who is also her husband Benjamin Jones and their sponsorships.
Sharing her story with Radio Times, she said: "It was the hardest decision. To be selfish and take that away from Ben, or lose that massive dream of Strictly Come Dancing?"
Discussing the moment where she had to speak openly to BBC chiefs, the star added: "I remember just being in tears with the producers."
Despite her initial worry, Amy did manage to do both as producers allowed her to join Strictly the following year.
The news comes after Amy recently told fans that she is struggling with side effects from her chemotherapy treatments.
After being diagnosed with the condition earlier this year, Amy has been keeping fans regularly updated on her progress.
In a recent candid health update, Amy who has danced on Strictly alongside pop star Tom Fletcher and EastEnders star James Bye said she struggles to brush her own hair over fears more will fall out.
Amy said her husband Ben has helped her with her hair care as it often leaves her distraught.
Talking to her fans on Instagram, she said: "So many messages asking me how I'm coping with the hair loss and I'm not gonna lie, it is really hard.
"I think I cry less now. To begin with, it was every day, but now I have meltdowns when I wash my hair once a week.
"For the last two weeks now, I haven't brushed my hair and that has definitely helped.
"Since I came out of hospital with the blood clots, I stopped brushing it myself because I was just getting distraught seeing how much was falling out," she admitted.
