Mike Graham has slammed the BBC and is calling for the broadcasting organisation to be defunded following its latest “fix” scandal. Last weekend Strictly Come Dancing star Fleur East was in the bottom two with her partner Vito Coppola. However, during her performance in the dance-off, an incident with a prop resulted in them having to start again, which was edited out of Sunday night’s show.
On Sunday night Strictly fans watched as former X Factor star Fleur and EastEnders actor James Bye found themselves in the dance-off.
After both having to perform their routines once again to judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke, Fluer was the celebrity they chose to save.
However, with the results show being pre-recorded on Sunday night, it’s since been revealed during her dance-off performance Fleur and Vito had to start again due to an incident with a prop.
Due to this mishap being edited out of the show, many fans are calling the incident a fix due to them being saved after they were allowed to restart.
One of those showing outrage towards the broadcaster is Talk TV host Mike Graham who has called for the BBC to be defunded as he claims viewers were “hoodwinked”.
Although he confessed to not watching Strictly, Mike informed viewers that as Fleur apparently fell over a light, she was allowed to be given another go.
He said: “Now normally speaking, in any situation, if you fall over and you lose the plot on the dance floor, you don’t go through to the next round.
“But she fell and was given a second chance and guess what? The BBC kept it secret from their viewers.
“The BBC thought ‘Stupid viewers, they’re too stupid to understand what’s happening here so we won’t show that particular tumble but what we will do is give her and Vito another go.’”
Mike read an extract from The Sun which detailed that once Fluer and Vito were checked over by the medics after falling they were allowed to restart before being voted through to continue in the competition.
The Talk TV host claimed this incident doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of what Strictly Come Dancing is about; it’s supposed to be a relatively live show.
He added: “It got me thinking, what else is the BBC covering up? What else do they do that we don’t find out about and how else are we supposed to find out what they’re covering up?”
Mike fumed as he called the news department at the BBC an “utterly ridiculous” place before adding every radio station at the broadcaster has lost millions of viewers and listeners.
He continued: “They’re all losing and you know why? Nobody believes the BBC anymore.
“Nobody thinks the BBC are up to snuff, they’re talking about shutting down a load of local radio stations, good!
“They should, they’ve got about 62 local radio stations around the country, I always bang on about this they’ve got BBC Sussex, BBC Kent and BBC Essex.
“All in the same arena, all doing different things, all paying different people to do different things. It’s ridiculous they need to get rid of all of it.”
“The BBC is a sham and I think it should be defunded forthwith, you know why.”
A spokesperson told Express.co.uk that as Fleur and Vito had not started dancing when the incident occurred they were allowed to restart.
They said: “After an incident with a prop at the beginning of Fleur and Vito’s dance-off performance, the decision was made to halt proceedings to check they were not injured, as a matter of urgency.
“As they had not begun to dance before the incident occurred, it was decided they could start the performance again, once it was confirmed they were fit to do so.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday on BBC One at 7pm
