Wednesday’s instalment of the ITV gameshow saw “nervous” player Joe taking on Chaser Paul “Sinnerman” Sinha in an attempt to win money for his team. As he joined presenter Bradley Walsh to take his turn, Joe’s nerves got the better of him and he ended up “welcoming” the host to the show in response to being introduced. Comic Bradley joked: “No, I say that!” before asking Joe if he felt nervous.

ITV had put together a team consisting of Stan, Joe, Prathi and June in the episode of the new series.

Stan had been up first and had secured an impressive £7,000 for the team, so the pressure was on for Joe.

“Okay, next to face to Chaser, it’s Joe,” Bradley told viewers. “Welcome to the show, Joe.”

“Welcome, Brad,” Joe replied without thinking, and the host immediately called out his error.

As Joe hid his face, Bradley commented: “No, I say welcome, you say thank you! Are you nervous?”

Laughing, Joe admitted: “Yes, just a little bit.” As the audience laughed, Bradley pointed out he had noticed.

“I can tell,” he swiped jokingly. “Where abouts are you from?” he asked, changing the subject.

Joe explained he was from Stevenage and that he worked in spacecraft for the European Space Agency.

“Wow,” an impressed Bradley remarked before Joe explained a little more about what he does.

“And what do you do to relax?” the 62-year-old TV personality asked.

“I fly light aircraft I’m currently training as a pilot,” Joe explained. When asked what he would do if he won enough money, Joe detailed: “We’d love to go to the Grand Canyon and go whitewater rafting down the Colorado River, and go to Yellowstone National Park.”

Thankfully, Joe ended up putting in a great performance, winning £6,000 in his cash-builder and storming through his questions against Paul.

“You should have taken the high offer!” Bradley stated. Baffled by the extent of Joe’s knowledge, he went on: “How do you know all of this stuff?”

Unfortunately, Prathi was caught during her round and was forced to leave the team.

Meanwhile, June opted to take a minus offer of -£1,000, meaning the team’s earnings went from £13,000 to £12,000.

However, June managed to get through her round and the team earned 20 points in the Final Chase against Paul.

With the help of five push-backs, the team took a victory over the Chaser.

The Sinnerman scored only 14 points but was quick to congratulate the trio’s team effort. “Very good side indeed I have to say,” Bradley remarked.

“£12,000, take the money, split evenly, run off into the sunset, you have escaped the Chaser!”

“No team is more deserving,” Paul commented gracefully after his loss. He applauded the team for working together throughout.

The Chase continues on Thursday at 5pm on ITV.
