The Crown season six teased in Netflix trailer
The first four episodes of The Crown’s highly anticipated series six drop today, with a touching title card honouring one of the show’s most pivotal crew members, Victoria Stable.
In May this year, the archive producer tragically died after leaving a sensational mark on the film industry with her work and research for a number of hit shows and documentaries, from Spitting Image to Netflix projects including The Crown.
Archive association Focus International shared a tender obituary for the archivist saying she was “particularly passionate” about her role on The Crown.
One of her colleagues on the show, Folu Merriman-Johnson, shared his own memories of Victoria from set, saying: “Without her expert archive knowledge and her ability to find and provide the footage, the series would not have been the same.
“Not only was she professionally excellent, she was an absolute pleasure to engage with; for both she will be sorely missed.”
Speaking to The Crown podcast in November last year, Victoria explained that she was the driving force behind the now iconic Beavis and Butt-Head cameo in series five.
In episode eight, titled Gunpowder, a young Prince William helps his grandmother navigate her new satellite TV, switching through channels in chaos when the notoriously raunchy show makes an appearance.
Victoria admitted it was a “terrifying” scene to confront but that she was “most pleased” with the outcome.
She recalled the behind-the-scenes hoops she had to jump through for the blink-and-you-miss-it moment: “I obviously had to go to Mike Judge, who’s the creator and animator of Beavis and Butt-Head, and he also does the voices.

“He had to understand that obviously Queen Elizabeth wasn’t going to be into Beavis and Butt-Head and would be fairly shocked and think it was pretty revolting.”
Luckily, Mike saw the humour in the moment and agreed, but Victoria also revealed he wasn’t the only person she had approached for the cameo: “Whereas there were other companies that… you know, I went to them because I wanted trashy, vulgar television. But you can’t ask for that.”
She also gushed over actor Khalid Abdalla (Dodi Fayed) who teamed up with her to find one of the only archive clips that recorded the historical figure actually speaking.
Victoria added: “Khalid sent me a random photograph he’d found online and you could see a news camera.

“He was being interviewed somewhere and I sort of worked it out.
“There was this court case and the day he came out of court, I think he was just giving evidence or something, somebody interviewed him.
“There was only five seconds of him speaking, but we did find it.”
