AN EastEnders legend stunned viewers of The One Show last night as she spoke out in an extremely rare chat.
The BBC One programme has been commemorating 100 years of the BBC all week with hosts Zoe Ball and Ronan Keating.
During the latest edition of the programme, recently axed Strictly star Richie Anderson was sent off to the set of Albert Square to interview an iconic character to promote the new BBC contest, 15 Seconds of Fame, whereby members of the public can apply to have a short cameo in one of their favourite shows.
There was no one better to discuss having built a career off of a small extra part than Jane Slaughter, famed for playing Tracey the barmaid.
Jane has appeared on the show since its inception in 1985 and has remained in the background of the pub ever since.
Whilst she has had occasional minor storylines over the years, BBC bosses have largely kept her in the background and as a character who can look after the bar when other characters go about their everyday business.

During the chat Jane told Richie about her first ever scene on the show and revealed that it wasnt actually in the pub.
She recounted: “It was outside on the flower stall, freezing cold but it was so exciting!”
Jane also recalled memories of working alongside the great Barbara Windsor calling her ‘professioanl’ and ‘supportive’, before adding: “I miss her very much.”
Viewers of The One Show were left stunned at Jane’s incredibly rare interview and relished in the chance to hear her speak on screen.
