After initial low ratings, it has since become a popular staple of British viewing.

To mark the show's anniversary, Daily Star has taken a look back at some of the most memorable moments from famous green sofa from over the years.

Gary Barlow walks off set

Take That frontman Gary casually stormed off the set mid-interview after tells hosts Richard Osman and Angela Scanlon he "wasn't feeling very well".

He later took to Twitter to reveal the reason for him walking off the show.

"Thank you all for the messages. I'm absolutely fine,” he wrote. "

We had a very hot dressing room and I thought I was gong to faint on live TV!"

His bandmate Howard Donald joked: ""Please don't worry about Gary.

"He told me he was touching cloth before he went on. He obviously went off to lay one. X"

Morrissey's unemployment chat

In regards to being on unemployment benefits back in the 1970s, Morrissey said on the BBC show: "I was quite happy to be unemployed because I didn’t want to work. I didn’t want to have a job.”

"I couldn’t think of a job I wanted to do, so I thought I shouldn’t do any.”

At a loss for words, host Adrian Chiles replied: "I suppose we all have to sympathise with the white-collar workers who only ever really enjoyed successes, who had no experience with going through (the dole)."

"Therefore, why sympathise with them?” Morrissey quipped in his usual sardonic manner of wit.

Sir Richard Branson's dancing

The Virgin group founder certainly made his mark on The One Show when he jumped on top of the table as the live episode was coming to a close.

Hosts Matt Baker and Angela Scanlon were discussing Strictly Come Dancing with former contestant Susan Calman.

However, the pair were left completely aghast when they quizzed Richard, 67, about his own dancing history.

"Table dancing I'm good at," he admitted. "All our tables at Necker (Island) are made for dancing."

Although a joke at the time, no one could have expected to see the businessman climb on top of the show's glass table.

Theresa and Phillip May discuss who takes out the bins

Theresa took to The One Show sofa in a bid to show a more of a human side to her and her husband, Philip.

The bizarre conversation covered shoes, walking holidays and who takes out the bins.

“I get to decide when I take the bins out, not if I take them out,” Philip joked.

“There’s boy jobs and girl jobs, you see,” May added.

Asked how long she had wanted to be Prime Minister, Theresa said she had stayed focused on whatever job she was doing at the time – before Philip revealed she spoke of climbing the ladder long before deciding to run to be party leader.

The politician was faced with backlash from angry viewers for stating there are "boy jobs and girl jobs".

Camila Cabello's wardrobe malfunction

The former Fifth Harmony band member accidentally flashed her boob live on The One Show.

Camila left hosts and fans in shock as she suffered the epic wardrobe malfunction while appearing live via video link.

She was on the show to talk about her new single, when the wardrobe malfunction occurred.

The singer was attempting to show guest Alan Carr and presenters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas her dance moves when her flimsy top fell down.

Being the professional that she is, Camila simply carried on with her routine while amending her clothes, adding: "Whoops I just flashed you."

David Cameron's sleeping pattern

Things took an awkward turn when host Matt threw David Cameron a curve ball final question during the end of an interview.

Before wrapping things up, the presenter asked: "Really quickly… how do you sleep at night?"

Whether or not this was a dig at the Prime Minister or an innocent question remains to be seen.

"I've always managed to sleep okay," Mr Cameron replied.

"If you work hard during the day and get your stuff done, try and put it behind you. At the end of the day, if you’re exhausted you’ll make rotten decisions."

Miriam Margolyes awkwardly cut off

Call the Midwife actress Miriam was swiftly stopped from ranting about the future of the NHS during her time on The One Show.

"I think it’s absolutely ridiculous to be 78 and fat. I was very stupid. But now I’ve got there, I am 78 and I’m alive," she began.

"I have got health problems as a result but I’m battling on and I’m not hating myself. I hated myself for a long time and now I rather love myself actually."

Miriam’s comments led to a round of applause from the studio, however her interview was brought to a rather rapid close when she attempted to talk about the future of the NHS.

"The thing is, it doesn’t really matter what you look like, it’s what’s healthy and if you can try to be healthy, that is the great thing," she continued.

"Especially these days when, you know, well I don’t know how much longer we’re going to have a National Health Service, do I? Coming from the political spectrum that I come from."

Presenter Matt then pulled the plug on the interview and let out an awkward smile.

"Well, we’ve run out of time on that one now, Miriam so we can’t crack on with that conversation," he said.
