The Repair Shop: Julie finds strange item in teddy bear
The Repair Shop expert Kirsten Ramsay wasn’t thrilled when her fix didn’t go entirely according to plan.
During a repeated episode of the BBC show, viewers were introduced to Chloe Foster, who had brought in her musical carousel with extreme sentimental value.
The item was gifted to Chloe, who has cerebral palsy, by her mother to keep her occupied during long hospital appointments as a child.
However, whilst speaking to David and host Jay Blades in the workshop, it was clear the special object was in need of some help.
For the last five years, the toy hasn’t worked along with one of the legs from the horses being completely broken off.

Wanting to see what could be done to bring the object back to its former glory, David asked for the help of another expert in the workshop, Kirsten Ramsay.
Looking at the carousel, Kirsten had to try and create another leg to replace the one from the horse which had been broken.
She said: “I think originally, all of these horses, in fact probably the whole carousel were made in a mould so each of these horses is exactly the same.
“Which, for me, is great because it means I can just take a cast of the back leg from this horse and transfer it onto the horse with the missing leg.”

Using impression material, the expert hoped to get an accurate definition from one of the horses in perfect condition to then pour resin in, to get a new leg.
Putting the horse with the broken leg on top of the mould, Kirsten hoped that when it had set, the horse would be attached to the new leg she had created.
She said: “I’m just about to see if the new leg for the carousel horse has worked. It’s always a little bit nerve-wracking because I don’t quite know what I’m going to find. Hopefully, it’s going to be a lovely leg.”
However, Kirsten’s plan didn’t go as she thought it would, as when she opened the mould, she discovered it hadn’t attached.
She added: “I’m slightly disappointed with that, I was hoping that this would come out sticking to the horse.”
However, the slight mishap wasn’t an issue, as the expert managed to attach the leg in the end before giving it back to David.
Once Chloe saw her carousel after David and Kirsten had both worked on it, she was blown away, as it could play music again and looked brand new.
