The identity of George Knight’s (Colin Salmon) missing wife, Rose, and what happened to her when she disappeared nine years ago has remained shrouded in mystery, though the truth is soon set to come out in upcoming EastEnders scenes which will send shockwaves through the family.
After finally learning what really happened all those years back, struggling George is determined to get to the bottom of things, and is soon setting off in search of answers.
When questioned by fiancé Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), George makes up excuses, but his lies are soon rumbled.
As Elaine confronts him, George is forced to reveal everything he has discovered.
Things only get worse when the pair are interrupted by Anna Knight (Molly Rainford), who demands to know the truth about what happened to her mother.

Reluctantly, George reveals all, but insists that Anna keep the information to herself, out of fear that telling sister Gina (Francesca Henry) would result in history repeating itself…
Anna is happy to do that, as actress Molly Rainford reveals.
‘Throughout their lives, Gina has always been the one that’s been mothering Anna and protecting her, but I think actually if you look deep down, Gina is the one who is slightly more scared by the whole thing, perhaps because she’s seen a bit more and because she’s a bit older when it all happened.
‘Anna will take being mothered from Gina for as long as she needs to, but actually she’s there to step up when Gina is a bit more vulnerable.
‘Obviously there has also been issues in the past with Gina resulting in her going a bit off the rails, and partying.’
However, as the Knight’s prepare for Lola’s wake, it soon becomes clear that Anna is struggling to hide what she knows.
As she prepares to open up to her sister about their mum, Gina stops her and insists that, whatever it is, she doesn’t want to know.
Despite this, it isn’t long before Gina has changed her mind, and decides that she wants to hear the truth.
Concerned, Anna covers and pretends that it was nothing, determined to keep the bombshell to herself.
Eventually, Gina gets the truth out of Elaine, who believes she has a right to know, but has she made the right decision when Gina heads to Peggy’s to drink herself into oblivion?
Actress Francesca Henry confirms that Gina reacts ‘very’ badly to what she learns.
‘She’s a person that has to shake pain off. She doesn’t sit in any emotion for very long, she burns through everything. Shame, pain, happiness, the highs, the lows. Everything she burns through really quickly.
‘This is an extremely painful emotion for her so she needs to burn through it as quickly as possible to get to the other side of it. And she does that in a very self-destructive, but probably a very predictable and understandable way.’
At the Vic, George is horrified to discover that Gina knows the truth about Rose.
Will he find her, or will history repeat itself just as he feared?
