This Morning fans shocked after Holly 'makes weird blunder' in emotional speech about Phillip Schofield | The Sun

THIS Morning viewers were left wondering if Holly Willoughby had made a blunder during her opening speech on the show.

Confusion arose when some fans of the ITV morning programme thought they had misheard the star and believed she had made an epic dig at her former co-star, Phillip Schofield.

Holly, 42, made a much anticipated return to work today after a two-week break amid much chaos surrounding the show, including Phil's departure and the confirmation of his affair with a much younger male colleague.

Alongside Josie Gibson, Holly opened the show by saying: "Firstly, are you ok? I hope so. Feels very strange indeed sitting here without Phil."

However, some fans were left baffled as they thought Holly had actually said her former co-presenter's name 'Phil's' instead of "feels".

The epic 'blunder' left fans thinking Holly had said: 'Phil's very strange indeed'.

Commenting on the potential slip-up, one said: "Legit thought she said 'Phil's very strange' at the start of this."

Another added: "My favourite part of this absolute nonsense is that she pronounces 'feel' as 'Phil' resulting in… 'Phil's very strange'."

Whilst a third penned: "First time I watched this I thought she said 'Phil's very strange indeed' which really didn't feel like it was going to help matters."

After her opening remark, Holly continued her speech as she aired her thoughts on the events of recent weeks.

Holly continued: "I imagine you might have been feeling a lot like I have. Shaken, troubled, let down, worried for the well-being of people from all sides of what's been going on and full of questions.

"You me and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who they themselves felt they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved.

"That's a lot to process and it's equally hard to see the toll it's taken on their own mental health.

"I think what unites us all now is a desire to heal and the health and well-being for everyone.

"I hope as we start this new chapter and get back to a place of warmth and magic that this show holds for all of us, then we can find strength in each other.

"From my heart thank you for all of the kind messages. Thank you for being here this morning.

"Myself, Josie, Alison, Dermot and Craig and every single person who works on this show will continue to work hard every single day to bring you the show we love."
