This Morning ‘loses 200,000 viewers’ after Holly’s emotional Schofield statement

Holly Willoughby's This Morning statement

As Holly Willoughby returned to This Morning alongside Josie Gibson, new figures reveal almost 200,000 people switched off once she had finished her opening statement.

While 1,633,410 tuned in to watch Holly address the saga, they were not interested in sticking around once her voice had been heard.

The data, which was shared by Mail Online, came from Overnights TV and Express.co.uk has contacted ITV for a comment.

Holly had said in her statement it “felt very strange” returning to the daytime show without Phillip Schofield.

She added: “I imagine that you might have been feeling a lot like I have – shaken, troubled, let down, worried for the wellbeing of people on all sides of what’s been going on and full of questions.”

“You, me and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who acted in a way that they themselves felt that they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved.

“That is a lot to process, and it’s equally hard to see the toll that it’s taken on their own mental health.

” think what unites us all now is a desire to heal, for the health and wellbeing of everyone.

“I hope that we start this new chapter and get back to a place of warmth and magic that this show holds for all of us, we can find strength in each other.

“From my heart, can I just say thank you for all of your kind messages and thank you for being here this morning.

“Myself, Josie, Dermot, Alison, Craig and every single person that works on this show will continue to work hard every single day to bring you this show that we love.”

Since making her statement, recent odds have suggested she could still step down from the show before the year is out.

Bettingsites.co.uk said Holly is at odds of 6/4 to leave This Morning in 2023.

However, she has shown no signs of moving on yet as she took to Instagram to share her outfit for the latest episode.

She wrote: “Morning Tuesday… see you on @thismorning at 10am with @josiegibson85 … the wonderful @sarah.beeny joins us today to talk about her incredibly important and personal documentary.”

Follower Rossfromfinance wrote in support: “That was so hard to see Alison and yourself over the past few days.

“People don’t understand when you are close to/teamed with someone that messes up how much it sends your world into a spin. Hope you can move on and heal, you deserve it Holly.”

This Morning airs on ITV on weekdays at 10am.
