Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) has kept himself out of trouble for a while now in Coronation Street. While this has surprised us, Todd has a worthy excuse for keeping his head down – he’s busy dealing with the dead at the Shuttleworth funeral parlour.
While it took Todd a while to settle into his new role and develop a good working relationship with George (Tony Maudsley), upcoming episodes will leave him with an almighty ego boost as he discovers that he’s been nominated for Young Funeral Director of the Year!

George is delighted but he very quickly bangs home to Todd the importance of winning the award as he’s up against RestEasy, who successfully pinch a client in the week.
As Glenda (Jodie Prenger) takes some publicity shots of Todd, he admits that he’s only going along with it because of the large pay rise. George looks confused and Todd realises that Eileen (Sue Cleaver) lied to him about his increase in pay.
With the award ceremony hours away, Todd appears in his best suit and a guilty Eileen realises the awards mean more to him than he’s actually letting on.
As George clocks Troy from RestEasy, he prays that Todd secures the award, but will he?
With Eileen being George’s partner, she has often found herself involved in funeral-based drama.
In 2021, George and Todd developed what they thought was the perfect Christmas present for Eileen. They dropped hints and made her incredibly excited, even going as far as blindfolding her ahead of the big reveal.
The gift was a bespoke funeral package and well, let’s just say Christmas dinner that year would’ve been very awkward indeed…
