Top Gear viewers LIVID as they slam 'disgraceful' BBC for 'wasteful' car scrapping challenge | The Sun

TOP Gear viewers have hit out at Sunday's "disgraceful" instalment after second-hand cars were scrapped.

In the latest episode of the motoring programme, Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris were on a mission to find used cars for under £500.

The trio then took the vehicles for a spin around a scrapyard before crushing them.

However, the conclusion of the challenge left BBC viewers hitting out at the show, with many taking to Twitter to air their dismay.

Alongside an array of angry-faced emojis, one person penned: "Why scrap them? What an absolute waste of good cars."

Echoing their comments, someone else said: "Just channel surfing and caught BBC's Top Gear crushing a Mazda – what a waste! That car could have kept other finer examples stay on the road."

While a third remarked: "Disgraceful how Top Gear forever destroy half decent cars just for viewing when they could easily be donated to families that are struggling."

Elsewhere on the show, Chris was handed the keys to the beautiful new Maserati MC20, a supercar worth almost £200,000.

After taking to the seat of the car – which reaches 200mph and can go from 0-60 in a staggering 2.9 seconds – Harris filled the boot with a takeaway pizza.

Harris’ reasoning was that, although the rear of the car is sizeable for a supercar, it’s also right next to the engine.

That apparently makes it "perfect for keeping things warm", including enough pizza to make deliveries for the evening.

Harris couldn’t resist tucking in himself, managing to burn his mouth and declaring it was “too hot”.

Top Gear continues on BBC One at 8pm.
