Towie’s Pete Wicks reveals real reason he quit show – saying ‘I don’t miss it & won’t watch it’ amid feud with co-stars | The Sun

TOWIE star Pete Wicks has revealed the real reason he quit the show amid feud with his co-stars.

Pete – who appeared on the ITVBe reality show from 2015 to 2021 -said he was desperate to not become the "Ian Beale of Towie", referring to the longstanding EastEnders character played by Adam Woodyatt.

It comes after the reality star was slammed by popular cast members, as they accused him of "disrespecting the show that made him".

Appearing on Not My Bagg podcast, host Joe Baggs asked Pete: "Do you miss being on Towie."

Pete replied: "No, I don't miss.

"I've never watched it and I never watched it before I did it, I never watched it when I did it, I've never watched anything I've done on TV.

"I'd been on it for quite a long time and I owe the show quite a lot. The show was good for me for a lot of stuff that I do now.

"I was starting to become the Ian Beale of Towie, just this sort of drunk in the corner, so it was definitely time for me to f****** do one."

Earlier this month Pete defended himself saying he never "disrespected" the show, but admitted he does have a problem with some cast members who enjoy "stirring the pot".

"The biggest problem I have with this, is that I haven't disrespected the show at all," Pete hit back.

"I haven't said anything about the show.

"We've said repeatedly a number of times, we wouldn't be anywhere without Towie, without Made In Chelsea, we wouldn't be doing what we do.

"What I have disrespected is those d***heads – so actually it's not the show.

"It's not the show that I'm disrespecting, it has been for a long period of time and I owe an awful lot to the show and I love the people that make the show and the people that work behind the cameras.

It's the people on the cameras that are a problem.

"So actually no, I haven't disrespected the show, the show's great, I love the show, it's you lot."

"That is absolutely wild," Sam laughed.

Pete continued: "You know what it is – over the years you get some people on reality TV, when you do different shows you have different people who bring storylines and different people who go on to do other things.

"And my reason for leaving Towie was that I just done it for so long and I don't have as much connection with any of the cast anymore.

"Slagging off the show is complete b*******, what happens when you do these shows is you have people who are used by producers and by other people to stir the pot.

"I like to call them 'ladles' because they're never the soup but they are there to stir things.
