Stu Carpenter’s (Bill Fellows) world falls apart next week in Coronation Street as his granddaughter Eliza (Savannah Kunyo) is hit by a car.
After getting in contact with her dad, Eliza has been enjoying getting to know him and this week, she tells Stu how excited she is to go to the cinema with him.
However, Eliza then returns home from school in tears and tells Stu that she started her period in the middle of PE, wanted to die with embarrassment and doesn’t want to see Dom anymore.
As a new week begins, Stu is annoyed after Dom fails to show up to see Eliza again.
To try and make her feel better, Stu tells Eliza that they could go and visit her mum instead, who is in prison for murder. The young girl isn’t interested which frustrates Stu, prompting him to lose his temper and even says that if Dom cared about her at all, he wouldn’t continually let her down.
Upset, Eliza dashes across the road where she is hit by a car.
As the driver speeds away, Stu rushes to Eliza who is clutching her arm.
While in the hospital, Stu is forced to call Dom who then arrives with a huge teddy for his daughter.
The two men end up trading insults and later, Alya (Sair Khan) assures Stu that Eliza will eventually see her Dad for who he is and when that happens, he’ll be there to pick up the pieces.
But what will Stu do next when Eliza announces that she wants to go and live with Dom?
