'Trust me to have an EGO': Adele 'pleased as punch' as she poses with first Emmy

Adele has officially received her first ever Emmy, admitting she was ‘pleased as punch’ over the accolade, which means she’s now just one award away from EGOT.

The Easy On Me hitmaker was awarded the Creative Emmy on Saturday for her CBS special One Night Only, which saw her give a stunning performance at the Griffith Observatory in California.

Posing with the trophy in a rare selfie, she wrote on Instagram: ‘Bloody hell I’m pleased as punch!

‘Thank you @mrbenwinston for dropping this round to me this afternoon!! Trust me to officially have an EGO 🤣

‘Thank you so much @televisionacad , I’m so so honored to receive this. Big up to everyone involved. @griffithobservatory thank you for letting me sing up on your mountain and big love to all the other nominees x.’

Adele, who previously won an Oscar, and numerous Grammys, now just needs a Tony award to complete the set.

Adele’s One Night Only, which saw her perform to countless celebs in LA including Leonardo DiCaprio, Selena Gomez, Donald Glover, and Gordon Ramsay, and sit down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey, led the way with five wins, including for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded).

It was nominated alongside Dave Chappelle: Closer, the Harry Potter reunion Return To Hogwarts, Norm Macdonald: Nothing Special, and One Last Time: An Evening With Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.

The superstar, 34, has 15 Grammys under her belt for her various albums, and also won an Oscar in 2013 in the best original song category for Skyfall.

However, Adele previously admitted that she’s not sure the Tony will ever happen.

Speaking to James Corden as part of Carpool Karaoke, she said: ‘The Tony’s pretty unlikely though, isn’t it? What am I going to be doing?’

‘What, writing a huge musical?’ asked James.

‘I ain’t got time for that,’ Adele assured him. ‘What if no one cares then?!’

She’s not the only star to have nearly completed the coveted EGOT, with Eminem also just being a Tony away from joining the 17 people in history to have achieved the accolade.

The recent Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show, which the legendary rapper appeared in alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent, also won big at the Creative Emmys.
