Wellmania: Celeste Barber stars in trailer for Netflix series
Wellmania launched on Netflix on March 29 with viewers quickly binging the show around the globe. The eight-part series follows Australian food critic Liv Healy (played by Celeste Barber), who is offered the job of a lifetime to work as a judge on a big new TV show called Banquet Royale in New York. Before taking on the new role, Liv heads back to Oz to celebrate her friend’s birthday only to be hit by a catastrophic health diagnosis which sees her US green card cancelled and her new job thrown into jeopardy.
Liv embarks on a journey to better health in record time in order to turn her health around and get the all-important go-ahead for the green card and return to America.
She decides to take part in all the latest wellness trends from an intense detox of herbal laxatives and enemas to yoga and a strict fitness regime.
The food critic even finds herself making detours into sex therapy, microdosing LSD and a chance encounter with a death doula to get fit.
Along the way, Liv goes on a journey of self-discovery as she realises health and wellbeing goes beyond high blood or cholesterol and is also about connecting with loved ones and facing past trauma.

Olivia ‘Liv’ Healy – Celeste Barber
Actress, writer and comedian Celeste Barber takes centre-stage in Welmania as Olivia ‘Liv’ Healy, who goes on quite a journey to good health.
She has been hailed the Australian Queen of Comedy and counts over 9million Instagram followers including Reese Witherspoon, Amy
Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Cindy Crawford and Tom Ford.
Some of her previous screen credits include The Letdown, How Not to Behave, All Saints and Wonderland.
Amy Kwan – JJ Fong
JJ Fong takes on the role of Amy Kwan, Liv’s best friend who is an investigative journalist and the polar opposite of her wayward pal.
Fong is a Chinese-New Zealander, who has appeared in Go Girls, comedy series Flat3, Step Dave as well as Netflix’s The New Legend of Monkey and soap Shortland Street.
Gaz Healy – Lachlan Buchanan
Lachlan Buchanan plays Liv’s younger brother Gaz Healy, who again is very different from his older sibling.
He has appeared in Station 19, the CW series Dynasty, the Oscar-nominated movie Ford VS. Ferrari as well as Some Freaks, Behaving Badly and Newcastle.
Lorraine Healy – Genevieve Mooy
Taking on Liv’s widowed mother Lorraine Healy is actress Genevieve Mooy whose career has spanned 40 years.
She is known for her roles in Frontline, and Brides of Christ, The Dish, Rake, Rosehaven, Escape From Pretoria and Wish You Were Here.
Doug Henderson – Johnny Carr
Johnny Carr stars as Amy’s husband Doug Henderson with the star known for his roles in Summer Love, Five Bedrooms, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Secret Daughter and The Greatest Love of All.
Isaac Huang – Alexander Hodge
Alexander Hodge appears as Liv’s love interest Isaac Huang with the actor previously appearing in Insecure, Tommy, Modern Family, NBC’s Law & Order: SVU, CBS’s Bull, THE CW’s Black Lightning, and HBO’s High Maintenance.
Dalbert Tan – Remy Hii
Remy Hii appears as Gaz’s fiancé Dalbert Tan with the actor known for his performances in Princess Switch 3: Romancing The Star, Aftertaste, Blaze, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marco Polo and Crazy Rich Asians.
Philomena – Yael Stone
Yael Stone has a guest role in the show as the death doula Philomena. The actress is best known for her role in the classic Netflix series Orange Is The New Black, You and Me Before and After, High Maintenance, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Firebite, Blacklight and Blaze.
