Watch the trailer for Yellowstone Season 5
Yellowstone actor Luke Grimes has shared an update about the state of filming on the final part of the contemporary cowboy drama on the Paramount Network.
The Taylor Sheridan series, which has built up a global following, was due to be airing its last set of episodes this fall but it looks like the wait could now be longer.
In a recent interview, the 39-year-old actor opened up about the production as fans remain hopeful.
He told People: “We have not [started filming the second half of season five] because of the writers’ strike.”
Grimes continued to the outlet: “I think we would be if it weren’t for that.”

He added: “But that takes precedence over everything. They got to get that all sorted, and then we’ll be getting after it.”
While the news may be disappointing, the update also suggests the show hadn’t been delayed due to other factors.
There had been reports John Dutton star and Yellowstone producer Kevin Costner’s busy schedule had impacted on season five.
Oscar winner and Hollywood legend Costner, 69, is working on a plethora of other projects including his film series Horizon.

However, these reports were later rubbished with claims the initial delays – prior to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes – were actually linked to the writers and the producers rather than Costner.
Either way, season five is going to be a bittersweet affair for its fans given Paramount confirmed it was the final outing for the show.
Yellowstone follows the trials and tribulations of the ruthless Dutton family as they seek to hold onto their ranch and lands whatever the cost.
Grimes admitted the fate of his Yellowstone character Kayce was unlikely to be a happy one, given the world the Duttons inhabit.
But he said he was taking it all in his stride and just accepting the storyline as it happened.
Yellowstone has certainly propelled some of its stars, including Grimes, further into the spotlight with the actor now starring in the Netflix film Happiness for Beginners.
The movie is certainly a change of pace from Yellowstone with Grimes portraying a doctor, who forms a bond with a recent divorcee during a wilderness retreat.
