- A hacker group believed to operating out of Russia is claiming to have stolen data belonging to Sony customers and are holding it to ransom
A hacker gang has claimed that it has breached Sony’s security systems and stolen data, the group is now offering to sell the data to the highest bidder.
Sony did not confirm the breach in a statement but said that it is investigating the claims.
‘We have successfully compromissed [sic] all of sony systems,” Ransomed.vc claimed on both on the clear and dark nets, as reported by Cyber Security Connect. “We won’t ransom them! We will sell the data. Due to Sony not wanting to pay. DATA IS FOR SALE,’ the group Ransomed.vc said in a statement.
The alleged breach was first reported by Australian site Cyber Security Connect.
The Cyber Security report says that Ransomed.vc has posted a power point presentation online showing how the hacking was done, including screenshots of a login page and screenshots of files.

‘We are currently investigating the situation, and we have no further comment at this time,’ Sony’s press release read.
The Cyber Security report says that Ransomed.vc has threatened to post the information it has harvested online on September 28 if they are not paid. The warning gives Sony contact details for the group.
