Amazing moment heroic passers-by team up to rescue sobbing teenage girl from raging sea

A teenage girl sobbed in relief after being rescued from the raging sea by strangers who saved her life.
She went into the water below a sea wall and slipway in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, on the Bank Holiday Sunday evening.
Quick-thinking passers-by spotted her in difficulties and risked their own lives to carry out a hair-raising rescue.
They threw a lifebuoy to the teen who had disappeared under the massive waves lashing the pier by Bridlington Spa just after 6.30pm.
Dramatic footage of the incident shows one man nearly being swept away himself as he helped haul the youngster to safety.

She sobbed in relief as she was led up the pier to be reunited with what is believed to be her family.
It is understood the girl involved was not injured and is recovering from her ordeal.
A coastguard spokesman said: ‘The Coastguard Rescue Team from Bridlington responded to reports of a person in the water at close to Bridlington Spa just after 6.30pm Sunday (7 May).
‘Upon arriving at the scene members of the public had managed to rescue the person using lifesaving apparatus which is situated around the harbour wall.
‘The coastguard team checked the condition of the casualty on scene.’
Jordan Grebby, Station Officer at Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team added: ‘There is no doubt that members of the public have saved this individuals life after they got into difficulty just off the Bridlington Harbour.

‘This incident is a timely reminder that whilst the sea can look fun, it can also be very dangerous.
‘As we approach the summer season it’s important to use a lifeguarded beach to swim however if you do get into difficulty, stay calm, attempt to #FloatToLive and try and get someone’s attention.
‘If you happen to see someone who is in difficulty dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.’
Those who have viewed the footage on social media say the heroes deserve a medal.
One woman posted: ‘I watched this from my window. Those men worked together as a team . I don’t know if they knew each other even. Well done to you all.
Another comment read: ‘Well done to them men. If they hadn’t been there could of been a different story. The sea is so powerful. Glad she’s OK x.’
Another local added: I’m so relieved she and her rescuers survived and I sincerely thank them. Well done to all involved.
‘We pass that spot so many times and see kids ( and adults) stood on the wall . It’s very dangerous there especially during rough seas. Makes me so nervous every time we pass.’
