Now ANOTHER Just Stop Oil activist interrupts their graduation ceremony as he is booed during impromptu speech about climate change before being dragged away
- Callum Goode, 24, gives speech about climate change at Lancaster University
- But he is booed then dragged out of building by security guards to applause
A Just Stop Oil activist was booed today while interrupting his own university graduation ceremony – in the second such stunt in less than a fortnight.
Callum Goode, 24, of Ashbourne, Derbyshire, started giving a speech about climate change in front of fellow graduates during the event at Lancaster University.
The protester tried to sit on the floor but was removed by two security guards, to the applause of some guests in the audience while others booed and heckled him.
Mr Goode held some notes and told the crowd: ‘I’m going to talk for a few minutes. Our degrees are pointless in the wake of the climate crisis. We have no future.
‘It doesn’t matter how sustainable our university is. It doesn’t matter what qualifications you have. We won’t have jobs. We won’t be able to feed ourselves.
‘I don’t want death. I don’t want other people to suffer and die from the effects of the climate crisis. Make a difference. We are winning but we are running out of time.’

Mr Goode has previously been involved in Just Stop Oil stunts such as protesting at the Kingsbury Oil terminal in Warwickshire and slow-marching through London.

His stunt got a mixed reaction on Twitter after Just Stop Oil posted a video of it, with one user saying he ‘interrupted his own graduation because he felt he was not getting enough attention’.
Another commenter tweeted: ‘How selfish – hope his classmates objected but then again these places seem to encourage this liberal ideology.’
But a third claimed he was the ‘opposite’ of being selfish because he was ‘sacrificing his own graduation to get this important message across for everyone’.
A fourth said: ‘That is very brave. Imagine facing that wall of disapproval. And still, he is right and right to disrupt because we are indeed out of time.’
A fifth added: ‘There is a sense of irony here, since Lancaster University is home to the Lancaster Environment Centre.’
Mr Goode’s stunt comes 11 days after Just Stop Oil protester Edred Whittingham ruined his own University of Exeter graduation ceremony with a paint-loaded fire extinguisher.
Mr Whittingham shouted ‘Just Stop Oil’ as he was arrested for spraying the college courtyard orange after collecting his BA in philosophy, politics and economics.
The 25-year-old student, who was jailed last year for blockading Kingsbury, sprayed paint while dressed in his robes.

Mr Whittingham also disrupted the World Snooker Championships in Sheffield in April by defacing a snooker table with orange powder in a major security breach.
Just Stop Oil has claimed that since its protest campaign began in April 2022 there have been more than 2,300 arrests and 138 people have spent time in prison.
The group wants the Government to immediately stop all future licensing and consents for the exploration, development and production of fossil fuels in the UK.
In the tweet publicising the video of Mr Goode today, Just Stop Oil also said it was planning a ‘mass youth training’ event in London on September 1 and 2.
The group’s stunts in recent months have included targeting major sporting events such as the tennis at Wimbledon, the golf at The Open golf and cricket at The Ashes.
They have also held demonstrations at the Chelsea Flower Show and Glyndebourne opera festival – and even targeted George Osborne’s wedding earlier this month.
