A 15-year-old boy has been jailed for life for murdering a dad-of-three as he desperately protected his daughter from an armed gang.
Jamie Markham, 45, charged at the group with a drill bit to clear off the yobs taunting his daughter outside their home in Chingford Mount, north east London.
But he was pounced on by a 14-year-old who stabbed the dad three times, including a fatal wound to the neck.
Jamie, also known as James, was helped by an eyewitness and his family.
But the dad tragically died at the scene following the August 9 horror last year.
Police were called at 6.20pm on the night of the murder to reports of a disturbance in Churchill Terrace.

An eyewitness, Stuart Cole, saw the teen and a friend “goading” Mr Markham, the court heard.
Jamie, who had been smoking in a car park near his home before the attack, then swung the drill bit he was holding in the air without making contact.
But the killer pulled out a knife, described as being a horrific 18 inches long, and stabbed Mr Markham in the chest, neck, and back.
Mr Cole heard the killer – moments before the stabbing – say: “It’s alright mate, he’s going to get it”.

The area had become a hotspot for anti-social behaviour, and the teenager had been banned under a Criminal Behaviour Order from entering the area.
At the time of the murder, he had already breached the order six times and was awaiting a court sentencing hearing for his behaviour.
Following the murder, horrified neighbours said that the “entire street” could hear Jamie’s wife’s screams when he died just yards from their door.

Another resident added: "I saw hooligans running up and down this way and that way.
"The police have got my dash cam because I was sitting in the car at the time.
"It was hammering down so you couldn't hear much of anything.
"I was shocked, especially seeing police doing CPR on him. I didn't realise who it even was until later."
Third resident, Alice McGill, 78, said: "All I know is that this girl was hanging out with these boys, one of them said something silly.
"She then went to go and get her father and her father came out and he died.
"It's not her fault. This girl was a proper daddy's girl – the poor, poor girl."
The teenager denied murder, arguing he was acting in self-defence, but was convicted by a jury after a trial in July.

At a hearing on Friday at the Old Bailey in London, the teenage killer was sentenced to detention for life by Judge John Hillen.
He must serve at least 15 years in youth detention and then prison before being considered for release.
