A YOUNG boy was rushed to hospital after being hit by an off-road bike as he played football.
The five-year-old was on playing fields in Oldham, Greater Manchester, when he was struck.
He was taken to hospital after suffering injuries to his leg and lip and now requires surgery.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the horror on Thursday but has since been released under investigation.
Greater Manchester Police are now vowing to crackdown on the use of illegal off-road bikes.
They confirmed they will be carrying out extra patrols and drafting in more resources to tackle the issue.

Chief Inspector Abigail Cronin for Neighbourhood Partnerships in Oldham said: “My thoughts are with the little boy who has been injured and I hope that he makes a speedy recovery.
“We understand the frustration of the local community with this type of anti-social behaviour and we want them to know that we are aware of it and have a plan in place to ensure that it is dealt with appropriately.
"We have secured extra resources and will apprehend and arrest anyone who is riding an off-road bike.”
