Braking bad: Moment police use stinger to halt speeding Jaguar X-Type driver hurtling down country lanes
- Jack Banyard, 32, drove a Jaguar more than double the speed limit in wild chase
- Police were then forced to use a stinger before ramming the car to take him out
Dramatic footage has emerged showing the moment police used a stinger before ramming a car to take out a dangerous driver during a high-speed chase.
A Jaguar X-Type is seen veering across a country lane at more than double to speed limit before it is brought to a halt.
The driver, Jack Banyard, 32, hurtled through narrow country lanes on the westbound A14 at Swavesey, Cambridgeshire, at about 8.10pm on June 6 when officers began pursuit.
It followed suspicions being raised about the car two days previously at a property in Soham.
They got behind Banyard at the Godmanchester junction and followed him along the A14 where he exited at the junction for Brington and Old Weston.
Banyard (pictured), of no fixed address, was jailed for 12 months, after pleading guilty to dangerous driving

Then he began driving at racing speeds of 80mph on the B660 towards Old Weston and turned left towards RAF Molesworth and Brington, driving at 60mph in a 30mph speed limit through the village.
Police dashcam footage shows pretty cottages and a red phone box flashing by as officers try and catch up with him.
At several points in the footage, he can be seen veering onto the wrong side of the road.
Banyard drove in the direction of the A14 and turned left onto the B660 towards Old Weston again, travelling in a loop.
But another traffic officer successfully stung the tyres of the Jaguar in Brington.
An officer finally stopped the driver by ramming the Jaguar and Banyard was arrested

He continued onto the B660, this time towards Catworth and on the wrong side of the road.
Shortly after this, an officer finally stopped the driver by ramming the Jaguar and Banyard was arrested.
Last week, Banyard, of no fixed address, was jailed for 12 months, after pleading guilty to dangerous driving.
Charges of disqualified driving, driving with no insurance and failing to stop were ordered to lie on file.
PC Dan Carr, of Cambridgeshire Police, said: ‘Banyard’s driving was immensely dangerous and put other members of the public in danger so I’m delighted he’s faced justice and can now reflect on his stupid actions.’
