Overweight British Airways passenger is hoisted out of their first class seat after getting stuck for THREE hours on plane at Heathrow
- Man realised he couldn’t get up after his flight which landed at 5am on Saturday
An overweight British Airways passenger has been hoisted out of their first class seat after getting stuck for three hours on a plane at Heathrow.
The man realised he could not get up after his 6.5-hour flight which landed just before 5am on Saturday and the crew members on the British Airways flight couldn’t help him either, the Sun reports.
Emergency services were called, who took the door out and finally freed the passenger using a hoist.
A BA insider said the passenger was mortified, especially since the seat in the £7,000 suite he was occupying was the most spacious one available.
The insider also told the Sun: ‘It was as embarrassing as it can get for him — especially when a door in the cabin had to be removed.

‘It sounded funny but, actually, people felt sorry for him.’
They added that hundreds of disbelieving passengers were watching while crew members did all they could to calm the man down.
The passenger flew in to Heathrow from Nigeria in seat 1A, which is usually the most desirable seat on the aircraft and costs £7,000, but comes with gourmet food and wine.
An engineering note seen by The Sun said: ‘A volumetric passenger is stuck in seat 1A. The plan is to remove the suite door and use a hoist to eject [him] from the seat.’
