British father-of-two, 31, is fighting for his life after falling 30ft from hotel balcony in Lanzarote ‘due to undiagnosed pneumonia’
- Dan Boyle was on holiday with his girlfriend when he tumbled over the balcony
A British holidaymaker is fighting for his life after he fell 30ft from a hotel balcony due to undiagnosed pneumonia, his girlfriend claims.
Dan Boyle, 31, was on holiday in Lanzarote with his girlfriend Ashleigh Lomas, 30, when he tumbled over the wall off the balcony, which was on the third floor.
He was immediately given CPR by another holidaymaker and was taken to hospital on the Spanish island, where doctors allegedly discovered Dan had undiagnosed pneumonia.
They believe his lungs filled with fluid because of the chest infection which made his heart stop beating and then made him tumble over the balcony.
Dan, an engineer, suffered a fractured skull, a fractured breast bone, a torn kidney and broke his ribs in the horror 30ft fall.

The dad-of-two was then flown to a hospital in Gran Canaria, where he had brain surgery, an operation on his kidney and was put in an induced coma for four weeks.
Ashleigh said she just wants Dan to come home to their children, Daisy, eight, and Daniel, three.
She said: ‘It’s just an absolute nightmare. It’s something that you would never expect to happen to you.
‘Our children are just missing him, they just want him home.’
The couple, who have been together for 12 years, arrived at the holiday destination on April 23.
The accident happened the day after they had started their holiday and Ashleigh said the couple were ‘laughing and joking’ just half an hour before.
She said: ‘He was perfectly fine. We was in the pool together half an hour before, laughing and joking.
‘He had a little cough but we didn’t think it was anything.
‘It wasn’t a constant cough, it was just a little one, so you obviously wouldn’t think anything of it.’
Dan, who is dad to Daisy, eight, and Daniel, three, is now out of the coma but is still unable to communicate with anyone.

Doctors have told Ashleigh they think Dan will have ‘really bad’ damage to his brain, but they know the full extent until he is fully awake, she said.
He will also need a specialist flight back to his home in Stockport, Greater Manchester, which costs around £35,000.
Their insurance has covered the hospital bills but won’t cover the flight home.
Ashleigh, a barmaid, is now raising money for the flight so he can ‘get the care that he needs’ back home.
She said: ‘It would mean everything for him to come home, everything would be so much easier for everybody.
‘He will be able to be around people who he knows and get the care that he needs.’
