A British woman has been killed on the Costa Blanca in a suspected domestic violence murder.
The 64-year-old was found dead inside her home in Orihuela Costa south of Alicante with stab wounds around 4am this morning.
Her 69-year-old husband, also thought to be British, is understood to have been arrested as he tried to flee the scene.
He is under police guard in hospital with a knife wound to the stomach. It was not immediately clear today how he had suffered the injury.
A neighbour raised the alarm around 3.50am. Police responders found the victim’s body shortly after they reached the property before arresting her partner.

On Tuesday it emerged Mr Cadwallader had died at the start of December, although news of his passing has only just been confirmed.
