That’s just sloppy! Bungling workmen paint huge new ‘Bus Slop’ sign on road in Scarborough
Bungling workmen made a major gaffe by painting a sign for a ‘Bus Slop’ on a road in huge, yellow letters.
The spelling mistake had residents laughing after pictures of the new road sign in Eastfield, near Scarborough, were shared on social media.
The error comes just weeks after workers missed in the same town missed their T’s on another sign, by writing the words ‘Town Centre’ as ‘Town Cenre’.
At the time, locals quipped the workers must have gone on a ‘T-break’ following the the ‘Town Cenre’ road marking gaffe.
This time, locals were again quick to spot the irony apparent in the ‘Bus Slop’ mistake, as they suggested the painters had done a ‘slop of a job’.
Workmen forgot to cross the ‘T’ while painting two-foot tall road markings for a bus stop
Locals said the sloppy mistake was made more obvious by a correct version across the road
Commenters also said the mistake is made even more obvious by the fact that the bus stop across the road is spelled entirely correctly.
Olivia Sidebottom, 21, whose house is next to the sign on Overdale, said: ‘How could you possibly get it wrong it is right on one side and wrong on the other?
‘Oh God. I can’t believe it. My Isla is just turned three and she could do a better job than that.
‘They upgraded the road quite a while before they painted the markings so for nearly a week there were no markings there at all.
‘They came back five days later to finish the job, and then this happens – in two-foot-tall letters.’
Local resident Georgina White said: ‘I wouldn’t care but it took them chuffing ages to redo these bus stops.
‘It happened about ten days ago. They redid the kerbs first and then painted the signs.
‘Some joker wrote a T sign in yellow chalk, but it got washed away in the rain.’
Locals asked if the workmen who painted the sign (pictured) had popped for a ‘T break’ after they misspelled the words ‘Town Centre’ as ‘Town Cenre’

Paul McDonagh, 34, added: ‘They must have been in a hurry to get it done to make a mistake like that.
‘No one can believe they got it so wrong so soon after that other Town Cenre sign that everyone is still talking about.’
The mistake has caused hilarity on social media were comments included ‘Slop of a job’, and ‘They need to go back to school’.
After workmen previously made a similar mistake in January, the Northway route in Eastfield near Sir Alan Ayckbourn’s theatre, locals were quick to interject with quips.
One local joked ‘Apparently he’s sorting it out later, he’s just nipped home for his T…’ while another asked ‘Are we sure they didn’t just pop of for a T break’.
Referencing the recent announcement from the Prime Minister that pupils must study maths until they are 18, another said: ‘Erm… Rishi… Forget Maths, mate…’
Another was more sympathetic, as they said: ”We are all only human and am sure they’ll be feeling bad enough.’
