Police are appealing for help to track down thieves who posed as plumbers to steal an ‘irreplaceable’ locket from a 91-year-old woman in south east London.
The valuable keepsake was one of several items stolen from the pensioner’s home in the Kelsey Park area of Beckenham on June 27, including a number of bracelets.
The elderly victim was gifted the locket by her parents on her 18th birthday. Inside, it held pictures of her late mother and father.
Metropolitan Police detectives have said the ‘horrible ordeal’ has left the victim feeling ‘utterly helpless’ and have issued e-fit images of the two suspects in a bid to track them down.
Police have said the victim was at home at around 2pm when the two men knocked on her front door, under the pretence they were there to repair a boiler leak.
While she was distracted, they rifled through her home before fleeing with the jewellery, which included the invaluable locket.

According to police, ‘extensive’ enquiries have been conducted but no arrests have been made so far.
Detective Sergeant Sarah Francis said: ‘This horrible ordeal has left this elderly woman feeling utterly helpless.
‘The stolen locket especially is of enormous and irreplaceable sentimental value.
‘I urge any local people, or jewellers, who may have been offered such an item for sale, to please contact us immediately.’
