EXCLUSIVE Couple are left disgusted by diners who let their toddler use a potty in front of them during Sunday lunch at Kensington restaurant
- The incident happened at the Cacciari Asia restaurant in south Kensington
- The restaurant has four and five star reviews for its hygiene and food service
A couple have spoken of their disgust after claiming their Sunday lunch was ruined by seeing other diners at a top London restaurant let their toddler use a potty in front of them.
The incident allegedly took place at the Cacciari Asia restaurant in south Kensington, west London over the weekend.
Writing on the Next Door website, the diner with the user name Tuan H said: ‘We went there for lunch today and, while having our meal, a couple sitting nearby pulled out a potty for their kid to use right in front of other customers.’
But while a source at the restaurant said the incident was being investigated, he insisted the customer had overreacted.
‘The toddler only urinated into the potty. The table was at least 3m away. I do think the diner overreacted. The child was about two years old and was with his pregnant mother,’ he said.

‘I don’t know the full circumstances of what happened, but it is being investigated.’
The outraged diner who went online to complain said in their post that waiters had been aware of what was happening during the Sunday lunchtime service – and did nothing to stop the potty being used.
The post continued: ‘They were not asked by the waiting staff or restaurant manager to take the kid to the toilet.
‘We found this such a put off as this wasn’t overwhelmingly respectful to fellow diners or a display of respect of hygiene in a public dining space.’
The post suggested the child had used the potty to ‘defacate’. A source at the restaurant disputed this – they accepted that the child had used the potty in an open area but said it was to urinate and was not seen by many other diners.

Other members of the community app Next-Door app were appalled.
One wrote: ‘This should be reported to Environmental Health immediately . If the parents have no common sense or respect for other diners, the restaurant staff should have intervened immediately and frankly ejected the inconsiderate patrons.’
Another said: ‘How appalling. Whilst I can appreciate the challenges of potty training this is completely unacceptable.’
Of the more than 50 commenting on the post most were appalled by the potty incident. But some did express some sympathy for the parents.
One wrote:’ It’s called potty training… come on the kid had to go… parents may have thought it was just a pee needed.’
