Crazy moment pool cleaner finds a CROCODILE in a backyard swimming pool: ‘My biggest fear’

  • Upon opening the lid, Josh discovered a freshwater crocodile hiding inside 

A pool technician got the fright of his life when he discovered a baby freshwater crocodile inside a pool cleaner.

Calipso Pools employee came across the reptile when he was was called to a house in Rosebery, south of Palmerston, in the Northern Territory last week. 

As he was emptying the lid of a pool skimmer, Josh was startled to find the tiny croc lurking inside. 

A pool technician unexpectedly discovered a small freshwater crocodile (pictured) hidden inside a pool skimmer while working 

Local Parks and Wildlife rangers were soon called to the property retrieve the animal from the pool, with rangers scooping the croc into a net.

The crocodile has since been rehomed. 

Calipso Pools said the find is a warning for residents for some parts of Australia to watch what they are doing while cleaning the pool. 

‘PRO TIP: Always check before sticking your hand in to grab the basket because you never know what you’ll find.’

The freshwater crocodile was captured by rangers in a net and has been rehomed

‘So it turns out not even the swimming pools are safe in Darwin,’ wrote one.

‘This was always my biggest fear when we lived in Darwin,’ commented another.

A third added: ‘I thought it was bad to find huntsman spiders in there, but this beats that hands down.’

Added another: ‘Hate opening the skimmer box at any time – spiders, frogs, mice, all kinds of unknown things gather in there!’
