Dan Walker hailed ‘the magic of make-up and prescription drugs’ as he appeared at an awards evening last night – seemingly without a scratch – just days after his horror bike crash.
The Channel 5 News star showed off his remarkable recovery in a backstage video from the Royal Television Society journalism awards, his first public event since he was hit by a car last week.
The 45-year-old former BBC Breakfast presenter first shared the news of the incident with a post on Instagram, showing him with cuts to his face and a bloodied nose.
He has since tracked his progress with a series of posts in the days that followed, but in a video shared last night, he appeared to be back to full fitness already.
He said: ‘Hello everybody, Dan Walker here. We have just completed the Royal Television Society journalism awards.

‘We’ve got big chandeliers, have look at the stage, it’s quite snazzy. We’ve had all the big-hitters on there tonight, giving out the gongs, people are still enjoying a bit of a party.
‘I hope you’ve enjoyed our Instagram stories and thank you for having me.

Last night, he also shared pre-show photos to his Instagram story of himself on the train down to London and later in a lift with his tuxedo in a bag.
‘Thanks @alliedrewmua for covering up the bruises for the @royaltelevisionsociety awards,’ he captioned the photo.
Speaking of the crash last week, Mr Walker said he had left his house early to catch the train and was going over the roundabout instead of through a cycle lane because it was often covered in smashed glass.
The presenter said that he hadn’t been able to watch the footage of the accident but after speaking with police again on Thursday he is ‘confident’ he was not to blame for the accident.
Mr Walker has asked to speak to the driver and said he hopes the matter can be resolved outside the courts.
