Death riddle as mum, 29, dies suddenly at home just weeks after finishing health degree | The Sun

TRIBUTES have been paid to a mum-of-four who died suddenly just weeks after finishing her health degree.

Holly Dakin, 29, had just graduated from Nottingham Trent University when she was found dead at home Sanger Gardens, Clifton, on April 30.

She left behind her young children – aged four months, four years, eight years and nine years.

An inquest into her death has now been opened at the Nottingham Council House, and Holly's family are crowdfunding money to support her children in the years to come.

Holly's father Rob, 64, who lives in West Bridgford with his wife Rosemarie, 60, said their daughter had passed away without warning and without known illness.

He said he understood the valves in his daughter's heart had failed, causing a heart attack.

The pair described Holly as a selfless individual who had others at the forefront of her mind.

Paying tribute to her, Rob said: " She just wanted to help people. She was very popular and she was well-liked. A lot of people loved her. Her funeral was packed.

"She had just graduated three to four weeks prior in health and social care, which is probably needed.

"She has done previous college courses like hairdressing, photography but they weren't for her. She understood people in that situation and she knew how to help. She spent a lot of her time bringing up her kids."

He said her young children had now been "left without a mummy".

"Their little lives devastated."

Holly had spent time working for Framework, the homelessness charity, and went on to study health and social care at university.

Speaking of her daughter's dreams in light of her university degree, mum Rosemarie said: "Holly's aspirations were to work with young, troubled people finding it hard to find their way."

Rob and Rosemarie have set up a GoFundMe to raise money to support their grandchildren and help with funeral costs, as Holly had no savings.

They say the lives of the young children have been devastated and, as such, they will need a lot of support for their mental health.

About £3,600 of the hoped £5,000 had been raised so far.

The inquest into Holly's death was opened at Nottingham Council House on Friday, August 5.

Assistant coroner for Nottinghamshire, Fiona Gingell, said: "Given the information currently available there is reason to suspect that Ms Dakin's death was unnatural and it is my statutory duty to open an inquest into her death."

The coroner sent her condolences to the loved ones of Holly. The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
