Extreme heat across the northern hemisphere attributed to climate change over the past year months has triggered wildfires, drought and the melting of glaciers.
The heat has also revealed some unexpected things left over from our past: shipwrecks, ghost villages and ancient cities.
Some of the discoveries are historic, such as a bridge dating back to Roman times.
Other were simply forgotten about, such as villages in Spain that were flooded when a river was dammed.
