- BBC put a stop to much-loved section of Radio 5 Live programme Sports Report
- And Match Of The Day kicked off with rundown of Premier League results
- Lineker said: ‘Just in case you couldn’t find the scores anywhere else last weekend’
Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker was last night accused of putting two fingers up to football fans fuming over the loss of the traditional Saturday teatime reading of the day’s football results.

As if to rub critics’ noses into the dirt, flagship football show MOTD kicked off last night with a rundown of the Premier League results from seven days earlier – read out in the legendary, classified results style.
A grinning Lineker said: ‘Just in case you couldn’t find the scores anywhere else last weekend.’
That went down badly on social media. One miffed fan tweeted: ‘Not impressed with their snide p*** taking re. the classified results at the beginning. Read the room eh?’ Another accused Lineker of ‘complete arrogance’.
Former BBC host Des Lynam last week said the axeing of the results was ‘change for change’s sake’.
