Father of six-month-old boy dies on his stag do after ‘road accident’: Friends help raise over £50,000 for his family
- Jonny Barltrop, 34, died in a road accident in Spain while abroad on his stag do
- His friends have now raised over £50,000 to support his ‘heartbroken’ family
A father of a six-month-old boy who died on his stag do has had thousands of pounds raised for his bereaved family by his friends in less than a day.
Jonny Barltrop, 34, father of six-month old Leo, was killed in a road accident in Spain on May 27 while celebrating his upcoming marriage to fiancee Cheri Bulmer.
But Mr Barltrop’s friends have already raised £52,613 in just under a day to help ‘lighten the burden’ on his family who have been left ‘heartbroken’.
The GoFundMe page, set up four days after his death on May 31, was set up by friend Tom Bell and has already received over 752 donations.
Mr Barltrop’s colleague and friend Chris Ewart said the support had been ‘completely overwhelming’.

His fiancee Miss Bulmer said he was an ‘amazing’ father and their son Leo meant the ‘absolute world’ to him.
She said: ‘Jonny was an amazing dad, son, brother and fiancé who was devoted to his family. Our 6-month-old son Leo meant the absolute world to him.
‘We all loved him so much. He was so excited for our wedding and future together as a family. We are just completely heartbroken.
His colleague Mr Ewart, who works at Build Recruitment, added on LinkedIn: ‘Jonny Barltrop was involved in a traffic accident whilst on his stag do and tragically passed away.
‘He leaves behind his fiancé, Cheri and six-month-old baby Leo which is heartbreaking beyond belief. He had so much love for them it can’t be put into words.
‘They are part of the Build Recruitment family and we will be there for them forever.

‘Jonny is one of my best friends and we have worked together for the past nine years.
‘He was highly driven and the most successful recruitment professional I’ve come across.
‘But more than that, he was a great man, loved his family, friends and having fun. The depth of this terrible tragedy still doesn’t seem real.
He added: ‘The comments and support for Jonny and his family has been completely overwhelming.’
The GoFundMe det up by Mr Barltrop’s friend Tom Bell reached £52,613 since it was set up on May 31.
Mr Bell said: ‘Jonny Barltrop, a fiancé, father, son and best friend to so many has tragically been taken so early in his incredible life. Leaving behind a wonderful fiancée, Cheri and a beautiful, six-month-old, son, Leo.
‘A true icon and endlessly unique in his nature and how he enjoyed and lived his life.
‘One-of-a-kind is truly the only description anyone who knew him could use.
‘Tragically taken following an accident on his own stag do at the end of May 2023.
‘Just under two months away from his wedding and with a six-month-old son, he leaves a huge hole in so many lives, none more so than his family.
‘This page and fundraising is here to support Cheri & Leo now, and ongoing with as much love, generosity and kindness everyone can give.
‘Thank you for every donation, and know that nothing will fill the void created by this tragedy, but lightening the load and burden of the family is the best support we can give!’
