There are fears for personnel onboard a military helicopter that has reportedly crashed near Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays.
Queensland police and paramedics are aware of the crash, which reportedly happened on Friday night during military exercise Talisman Sabre.
There were reports four people were onboard, but it was unclear if they were Australian or American.
The exercise, which runs until August 4, involves thousands of people from the defence forces of Australia and the United States.
Two days ago, a US Air Force commander said this exercise was the “biggest, most complex Talisman Sabre we’ve undertaken”.
The Defence Force has been contacted.
More to come.
