Ground stop ‘halts British Airways flights departing JFK Airport’, as frustrated passengers are told airline has been hit by IT issue
British Airways flights have stopped departing New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, with frustrated passengers stuck on planes being told there’s an IT issue.
Multiple passengers have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration with the airline, claiming they’ve been told that a systems issue has caused the snafu.
One tweeter wrote: ‘do you have information about flights leaving JFK to London ? Still no information about the delay, we just know that it’s an IT problem.
‘And we have a connecting flight in London to Toulouse with only 1 hour connection time, what about this ?’

Another said: ‘why aren’t flights taking off from JFK. I’m on BA0178 rt now and captain has said indefinite delay, systems down and waiting on “paperwork”??
And a third wrote: ‘ Sitting on the tarmac at JFK only to be delayed indefinitely due to the entire British Airways IT system being down, aka a Southwest Airlines moment. Does the entire airline industry run on MS-DOS or something?’
British Airways has yet to comment on the ground stop.
