Heartbroken teen model, 19, killed by car as she ran into road a day after being dumped by boyfriend | The Sun

A HEARTBROKEN teen model was killed by a car when she ran into a road to catch a bus, an inquest has heard.

Tiegan Spencer, 19, had been dumped by her boyfriend just a day before her tragic death.

Her mum, Leanne Southern, claimed that Tiegan may have killed herself deliberately after the break up.

Friends told the inquest that college art student Tiegan was heartbroken at the split and "did not know what she had done wrong".

They said Tiegan had not had sex with her boyfriend for four months and she had lost so much weight she was "a bag of bones" and she said "I have got no boobs" after she was ridiculed for being "too fat".

But the coroner rejected suicide saying Tiegan was "distracted by the break up and had not had much sleep and her mind was all over the place and she was not concentrating".

He said that if she had been suicidal she would have stepped directly in front of an articulated lorry and not on a 30mph road.

She had been in a nail bar when she saw her bus and ran out into the road from behind a parked van.

He added she failed to see if the road was safe to cross and was struck by a passing Land Rover Discovery.

Police said no blame could be attached to the driver who was doing 15-20mph at the time.

The inquest also questioned whether Tiegan Spencer had been wearing ear pods when she ran into the road in Hayle, Cornwall, last November.

But Motor Patrol Constable Justin Haine told an inquest in Truro Coroner's Court that no ear pods were recovered at the scene of the collision.

The senior Cornwall coroner Andrew Cox said it was a rare day when there are answers to every question and it did not look like 19-year-old Tiegan was wearing ear pods at the time.
