Hilarious moment mum shoves rival to the ground during fun run at school sports day | The Sun

THIS is the hilarious moment a super-competitive mum shoved a rival to the ground on a school sports fun run.

Katie McDermott, 25, from Coventry, sent a fellow parent flying when she elbowed her out of the way during the light-hearted event on Wednesday.

She was prepared to play dirty if it meant she had a chance to win – and footage shows she didn't think twice.

In a video filmed from the sports day side-line, the red-haired mum makes a mad dash to the finish line.

After realising she was about to be beaten, Katie pushed her competitor – sending the woman flying.

Katie said: "I told my daughter I would be number one, so I had to be.

I tried to make my daughter proud at sports day but it went horribly wrong

"I could see she was winning – so I just gave her a quick nudge and she took off in the air."

Looking back, Katie can't pinpoint what came over here – but felt an instinct to do whatever it was going to take.

She said: "I don't know what possessed me to do it, I was just thinking about how I wanted to win so badly.

"I didn't know the mum very well – everyone was shocked but we just carried on as normal afterwards."
