Disturbing video footage captured the moment a woman suffered a deadly fall from Ferris wheel at a restaurant in Brazil on Sunday
Maria do Carmo could be seen sitting on one of the ride’s metal bench and talking to a group on the ground when a man spun the manually operated amusement ride.
The 49-year-old subsequently fell face down and hit her chest against one of the wheel’s iron bars.
After her fall, do Carmo went into cardiac arrest and received emergency assistance from a nursing technician, who was nearby.
The fire department arrived on the scene, used a defibrillator and performed CPR in an attempt to resuscitate her before paramedics pronounced her dead.

Authorities shut down access to the Ferris wheel, which is located in a restaurant playground.
The Ferris wheel area has a sign that indicates that it is only accessible for people between the ages of 5 and 10.
Iury Vieira, one of the restaurant’s owners, told Brazilian news outlet G1 that each Ferris wheel bench had a safety lock and another device to prevent falls, but only for children.
The restaurant has been open for nine years and has a valid operating license and permit that was issued by the fire department.
However, the fire department said it was not their duty to inspect the Ferris wheel.

Lieutenant Matheus Viol said the restaurant’s owners and its technical manager were liable for ensuring that the Ferris wheel was inspected by the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of Minas Gerais.
Vieira acknowledged that they did not have an operating license for the Ferris wheel and the playground.
He was unloading merchandise into the restaurant and his father was at the cashier register when do Cormo suffered the deadly fall.
‘We didn’t really see the fact, of her actually falling off wheel,’ Vieira said. ‘A guy was with her and called me into the restaurant. Then I saw the fact that she had fallen to the ground.’
