Horror M4 fireball crash involving multiple cars leaves one dead and three wounded – sparking traffic chaos with motorway shut
One person has died and three more have been seriously injured following a horror crash on the M4 today that saw a car burst into flames.
The shocking incident happened on the eastbound M4 near to the Cranford Park Interchange shortly before 12pm today.
Dramatic video filmed from the scene of the accident show terrified motorists attempting to put out the raging fire that had engulfed the vehicle.
One man could be seen using a fire extinguisher on the blaze in a desperate attempt to control the inferno.
Later, footage showed a mass of debris on the road and the gutted shell of the car still smoking.

The London Ambulance Service have since confirmed that one person sadly died as a result of the crash.
Three others have been hospitalised and are now being treated in a major trauma unit.
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: ‘We sent a number of resources to the scene, including three ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer, a clinical team manager, members of our hazardous area response team and our tactical response unit.
‘We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
‘We treated three patients at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre. Very sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.’
The crash caused chaos on the roads due to the closure of the M4 with traffic news service Inrix reporting routes north of Heathrow were ‘bumper-to-bumper due to diverting traffic.’

It caused significant disruptions in both directions along the motorway, with the entire road temporarily closed
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘Officers are at the scene of a serious collision on the eastbound M4 near to the Cranford Park Interchange.
‘The road is closed in both directions between junctions 2 and 4 and we are in the process of turning around trapped traffic.
We expect the eastbound carriageway will be closed for several hours and drivers are advised to find an alternative route.
‘Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 2906/29Oct.’
