JUNIOR doctors are striking in April 2023 in a row with the UK government over unfair pay.
This industrial action will see almost 50,000 people walk out for four days in protest. Here's what we know.
How much do junior doctors earn?
The pay received by junior doctors is dependent on experience.
During foundation training, doctors will earn a basic salary of between £29,384 to £34,012 per year.
A doctor beginning their specialist training will earn between £40,257 to £53,398 a year.
Are junior doctors going on strike?
The junior doctor strike started at 7am on April 11, 2023, and will run until April 15, 2023.

The disruption is expected to be the most disruptive in the history of the NHS.
Junior doctors are demanding a 35 per cent increase in pay to compensate for 15 years worth of below inflation pay rises.
It is thought that around 47,500 junior doctors who are members of the British Medical Association (BMA) will walk out.
The BMA said that the pay for junior doctors has decreased by 26 per cent between 2009 and 2022, meaning newly qualified medics now make less than baristas in a coffee shop.

As a result of this, it is estimated that 250,000 appointments could be postponed due to lack of available staff.
Health secretary Stephen Barclay has accused the BMA of taking a "militant" stance and making "unrealistic" demands with regards to pay increases.
Barclay described the pay demands from junior doctors as: "Widely out of step with pay settlements in other parts of the public sector at a time of considerable economic pressure on our country."
How do I become a junior doctor?
A junior doctor is a qualified doctor in clinical training.
They work under the supervision of a senior doctor.
The first step for any person wanting to become a doctor is to study medicine at undergraduate level.
After completing their studies in medicine, they then move on to two years of integrated training.
These are known as foundation year one and foundation year two.
To practise as a doctor in the UK, you must have completed the two year programme of general training.
