I was kicked out of McDonald’s because of my outfit… I couldn’t believe it | The Sun

A MCDONALD's superfan who was kicked out of a branch because of his outfit says he couldn't believe it.

James Graham, 55, from Sussex, was told to leave shortly after sitting down in his local Maccies.

A waitress told James, who lives a barefoot lifestyle, that he could not be in McDonald's without wearing shoes.

He told the Mirror: "I questioned her about this and she said the words ‘No shoes, no shirt, no service’.

"I told her that this was an old saying from hippie times in the USA used to restrict people from going into places.

"But she was having none of it. She went to get the manager, who said I may cut myself."

James complained to McDonald's head office, who told him it was up to franchise managers to decide footwear policy.

He slammed the franchise for refusing to let him go barefoot when he was sat next to a play area full of shoeless children.

The widower stopped wearing shoes when his wife died in 2013, and has run 20 marathons barefoot.

He said: "I think it’s strange to make these decisions in a split second when I’m doing no harm to anyone."

McDonald's said: "The Bexhill team informed the customer that for his own safety and for the comfort of other diners all customers are asked to wear footwear in the restaurant.

"When he refused, the customer was allowed to remain on this occasion and finish his food before leaving."

It comes after a mum slammed a pub for allegedly kicking her out over her crying kids.

But the pub says that it was her tantrum which got the group evicted, not the child's behaviour.
