A MAN has blasted pubs in his area for refusing to let him and his pals in as they were wearing shorts – despite sweltering temperatures.
Jordan Hookem, 25, says he has been left feeling "angry and confused" over the rule as women were still welcomed in shorts.
The DJ, who lives in Scarborough, said he and his friends were left fuming after being barred from entering boozers in shorts as temperatures soared to 30C.
He told YorkshireLive: "How come males aren't allowed to wear shorts however females are, surely a leg is a leg?
"Surely people don't think 'I'm not going in there that man has his legs out' as they walk past?
"I can slightly forgive it in normal circumstances but we're in a heatwave and it's summer.

"It's roasting, who goes around in a full five piece suit or jeans for a few jars in Maldives weather – adapt to the circumstances or fall behind."
Jordan – who DJs at venues around the town – believes pub bosses are shooting themselves in the foot with the rules as it means they miss out on cash.
He added: "I would slightly understand if its sports shorts or work shorts covered in paint but is it really that bad in chino or jean shorts.
"I mean if you would rather the eight of us spend our money somewhere else over literally knee to ankle length of thread then so be it.

"I'll also remember come winter where to spend my money.
"It just seems daft for places to be refusing money, we’d of probably spent around £100 in there and I just don’t understand why a seaside resort in the summer turns away lads in shorts, just makes me feel confused and baffled more than anything."
Jordan says he and his pals don't bother putting up a fight and instead try to find another place to booze.
He added: "It's annoying because the door staff are the ones that have to break the news, and its not fair to stand and argue with them when its not their fault.
"So I just accept it and walk on but it gets annoying when it's two or three places refusing you in."
It comes as scorching heatwaves have hit the UK in recent weeks.
In July, Britain was hit by a 40C sizzler as the country reported the hottest day on record.
And in the last week temperatures have rocketed to 35C as Brits flocked to parks and beaches to soak up the sunshine.
