I weighed 650lbs & was a ticking time bomb – but I'm now unrecognisable after shedding half my bodyweight | The Sun

A MORBIDLY obese man who weighed almost 650lbs and was told by doctors he was a "ticking time bomb" is not unrecognisable.

Nicholas Craft, 42, shed nearly half his bodyweight without medication or weight loss surgery over the course of four years.

He made a promise to his grandma he would lose weight – and is now down to 285lbs.

Nicholas still wants to lose even more weight, as he said he simply wanted to "live longer".

The 5ft 9in man, from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has struggled with his weight since he was a child – weighing 300lbs in high school.

And by 2019 he had ballooned to a staggering 649lbs because of a vicious cycle of conform eating and depression.

Struggling badly, he went to the doctor who told him he was a "ticking time bomb" unless he changed his lifestyle.

Nicholas's biggest champion was his grandma, Georgia Moody, who always encouraged him shed the pounds.

But when she died in 2019 – heartbroken Nicholas made a promise that he would do her proud and finally slim down.

"My grandmother passed away before she was able to see my weight loss transformation," he told Fox News.

"She wanted to see me more often. I promised her I would lose weight, so I could see her more."

Nicholas went on his weight loss journey the old fashioned way – cutting out junk food and fizzy sugary drinks.

He made she he only ate 1,200 calories a day and increased his exercise.

And he dumped bread and pasta, replacing them with proteins, fruit and vegetables.

Nicholas now controls his cravings and is no longer in pain.

He just wishes his grandma could see his progress.

"She would be so proud of me. She was my source of motivation," he said.

Craft has been documenting his weight loss with before and after photos on Facebook and TikTok.

He is now crowdfunding to get surgery to remove the large amounts of excess skin hanging from his slimmed down frame.

Craft's sister started a GoFundMe on his behalf with the goal of raising $20,000 for the life-changing operation.
