A PROFESSIONAL pest controller has revealed the best way to keep bed bugs out your home.

The blood-sucking insects have infiltrated properties in parts of the UK in recent days.

Sightings last week on the London Underground and in Manchester, while they are also plaguing properties in the West Country.

Expert David Cain, of Bed-Bugs.co.uk, has provided free tips for homeowners worried about becoming victims to the creatures.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning this week, he said those using public transport should be particularly cautious.

He explained: "I would suggest that people take a little bit more care and look before they sit down.

"Personally, whenever I travel on the tube I go for the end of the carriage, those lean-on seats. They're really easy to check, have a quick look and I sit down."

He also urged homeowners to lift the duvet off their beds and use a vacuum both sides of their mattress.

It comes as Paris is currently plagued with the six-legged blood-sucking critters.

This week researchers from Merlin Environmental worked out which UK city is currently the “Bed Bug Capital” of Britain.
