Cycling fanatic Jeremy Vine shares new video of London bus driver calling him a ‘terrible person’ but insists he doesn’t know why… so who do you think was in the wrong?

BBC Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine has released a video of a London bus driver telling him he is a ‘terrible person’ after the star suffered yet another bust up on the roads – but people are divided on who is actually in the wrong.
Vine, a keen cyclist and campaigner, posted the clip on Twitter, where he often shares footage of his interactions with motorists.
Captioning it, he said: ”I think you’re a terrible person.’ London bus driver did the full moral outrage number on me this morning, but I DON’T KNOW WHY.
‘Please watch and help me understand.’
In the short video, Vine is seen waiting at a red light in the city centre with a No.176 Penge bus approaching from the rear.

Turning behind to the bus driver, the BBC presenter asks why she had honked at him
The bus driver replies: ‘I think you’re a terrible person. You knew what you were doing. You guys are very provoking human beings and I don’t know why you do it’
After they set off, Vine cycles ahead of the bus which is indicating to go left to the next red light where he stops however before he does he is honked.
Turning behind to the bus driver, the BBC presenter asks why she had honked at him.

The bus driver replies: ‘I think you’re a terrible person. You knew what you were doing. You guys are very provoking human beings and I don’t know why you do it.’
Vine replies and asks her again: ‘What did I do wrong?’
The bus driver replied: ‘You did something wrong and you know what you did.’
The light then changes and the tense standoff is finished.
As with many of Vine’s clips, which are uploaded routinely to social media, there was much public debate about who precisely by the law of the road was in the wrong.
Coming out on the side of the cyclist, one person said: ‘Very worrying when bus drivers don’t know the rules of the road.’
Another joked: ‘For goodness sake, JV, it’s obvious! You were on the road, but not cycling in the gutter! That lady should not be driving that bus.’
Another said: ‘My theory is, you were riding correctly. But the bus driver was feeling irritable generally and beeped in annoyance at you.
‘Then the driver tried to double down with a fake justification, she seemed to allude to people with camera’s provoking etc.’
Another said: ‘Most of us have an incident once in a blue moon. Jeremy has one every day, who’s the real problem?’

Reaction to the incident on social media has been mixed
Indeed, last week alone the Radio 2 man was told to ‘f*** off’ twice by two different van drivers while cycling through London.
Last Friday, Vine shared the second incident, showing him in a cycle lane as he approached a truck that was indicating to turn left.
Vine’s own video appears to suggest the van has the right of way because it is ahead of his bike.
He said: ‘In London you can only turn across another road user if you have a chance of killing them.’
Vine, dressed in dark trousers, a grey jacket and a fluorescent helmet and gloves, showed the moment he continued to cycle into the path of the turning van as the BBC presenter hooted his horn three times.
The enraged driver shouted at Vine out of his window, asking: ‘What are you doing?’
Vine turned around and gestured towards the driver while he carried on cycling, telling him: ‘This is a cycle lane.’
The driver replied: ‘F*** off, f*** off.’
As he cycled away, Vine shouted back again: ‘It’s a cycle lane you twit.’
The driver told Vine to ‘f*** off’ twice while the BBC Radio 2 host called the motorist a ‘twit’
At the end of the video that he posted to social media, Vine asked: ‘Would he do this if I was a bus? I don’t think so.’
He added: ‘This incompetent, ragey driver will kill someone — but it won’t be me.’
The clip left viewers split as to who was in the right.
One Twitter user said: ‘Aren’t you meant to slow down at the pelican crossing? The vehicle clearly indicated and you can slow and stop much easier on the bike.
‘You never seem to slow down.’
Another added: ‘Instead of slowing down as you can clearly see him starting to turn you decide to toot your little air horn and carry on riding a game of chicken with a lorry…..then post it online. What a hero.’
