A MAN has been charged for the death of a seven-year-old boy who was hit by a taxi – after his mum left him home alone to visit her lover.
Youngster Malakye Hall died when he was struck down crossing Manchester Road in Bradford, West Yorkshire, by himself.
The lad had escaped a locked house in August 2020 where his mother had left him alone.
While she was visiting her partner for the night, the boy was knocked down by a black Toyota Auris Estate at around 10pm.
Passers-by scrambled to give Malakye CPR until paramedics arrived, but sadly he could not be saved.
Mum Wendy Hall had abandoned her young son in a house without gas or electricity, bolting the back door behind her.

The 33-year-old chose to lock Malakye in the house because he'd refused to come with her to her partner's.
She had left her mobile phone with Malakye for him to play with and did not think he could use the bolt, but her son escaped the house shortly after she left.
The cruel parent was jailed for three years after pleading guilty to neglect last August.
Sentencing Hall at the time, Recorder Tahir Khan QC said: "The deliberate act of leaving Malakye alone and vulnerable resulted in his death."

But now the Toyota driver, Mohsin Hussain, has been charged with causing death by driving while uninsured.
The 31-year-old has been bailed but will appear at Bradford Magistrates Court in September.
Following the tragedy, Malakye was described as a "lovely" child with a "bright smile."
One of his teachers, Louise Norris-Green, said: "Malakye was such a lovely, funny, happy boy and it was a real pleasure to teach him.
"He will be so sorely missed, thinking of you all at this incredibly sad time."
While a family friend added: "Sleep tight our sweet Malakye, you will forever be in our thoughts, prayers and a very special place in our hearts with your big hair, impeccable manners and of course the bright smile on your face."
One tribute left for the youngster read: "RIP beautiful boy, always in our hearts, sleep tight baby xxx"
And another local said: "I met Malakye a few times he was shy but such a lovely kid.
“I was shocked to hear it was him that passed. My thoughts go to his family and those who knew him."

A fundraising page was set up to cover Malakye's funeral costs last year and donations climbed to £3,150 from friends, family and strangers moved by the death.
In the caption of the page, a friend wrote: "This is a very upsetting and distressing time for us, Malakye was taken from us far to soon. Any help will be so gratefully accepted. Sleep tight our little man."
